As a lifelong Hip Hop lover, I created *New York Subway* in 2021 to pay homage to the birthplace of the genre and its iconic pioneers. New York has always been considered to be the mecca of Hip Hop, home to legends like Jay-Z, The Notorious B.I.G., Wu-Tang Clan, 50 Cent, and many more who’ve shaped not only music but Black culture at large. This piece is my tribute to them.
I wanted to place these influential figures in a setting that captures the raw spirit of the city, the New York subway.
