To look at a canvas she has placed thoughts from her mind. Shemika Bussey, an abstract

artist born in Wurzburg Bavaria, Germany and based in Macon, Georgia,has explored

religious beliefs and emotional mindsets and desire through different materials and mediums.

Creating this piece was anything but easy-though I thought it would be. I quickly realized how wrong I was. For days and weeks, I revised, reimagined, and started over. Something was missing-excitement, energy, life. I'd paint a section, stip it away. Repeat.

The process demanded just what the title says: work. Real work!

This piece holds my days, nights and every second in between. And when it finally felt right in my spirit-I knew. The work was in me all along. "PUT IN THE WORK!
